Fuel Reserves are overflow fuel that accumulates when the main tank is already full. Instead of losing the extra fuel from large tips, it is held in reserve and flows into the main tank as the tank burns down.
A tip arrives and adds fuel to the main tank
If the main tank is already full, the extra fuel goes into the reserve buffer
As the main tank burns down, reserves automatically top it back up
The device stays at or near maximum intensity as long as reserves remain
This means a cluster of large tips creates an extended period of high intensity rather than the excess being wasted.
In the app — the fuel gauge strip on the Controller screen shows both the main tank level and a reserve indicator. When reserves are present, the gauge displays the total fuel including reserves.
In OBS — the Fuel Gauge widget in the OBS overlay can be configured to show or hide the reserve level alongside the main tank. Viewers can see when large tips have built up a reserve, which encourages them to keep tipping to sustain the session.
Let your viewers know that reserves exist so they understand the impact of large tips:
A single 100-token tip filling reserves means the device runs at high intensity through the burndown period
Encourage tipping at moments when the tank is low to maximize the visible impact on stream
Mention reserves in your stream tip menu so viewers know that over-tipping builds a buffer rather than being wasted.
