If your device does not appear when you scan, or appears but fails to connect, work through these steps.
Open your phone's Settings and confirm Bluetooth is turned on. If it was off, turn it on and scan again.
iOS: Go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Bluetooth and confirm Fluffer has Bluetooth permission. If it shows "Never," change it to "While Using" or "Always."
Android: Go to Settings → Apps → Fluffer → Permissions and confirm Nearby Devices (or Location, depending on your Android version) is allowed.
Confirm your device is powered on. Most devices have an LED indicator — check the device manual for what different LED states mean.
Move your phone closer to the device. Bluetooth range is approximately 10 meters (30 feet) in open space but walls and interference can reduce this significantly.
Only one session can connect to a device at a time. If another phone is connected, it must disconnect first. Check other devices that may have Fluffer open.
Toggle Bluetooth off and back on in your phone's Settings. Then scan again.
Power off the device, wait 10 seconds, and power it back on. Then scan in Fluffer.
If none of the above work, uninstall and reinstall Fluffer, then grant fresh permissions.
If you see the help modal appear automatically during scanning, it means your device is not being found within 30 seconds. Start with steps 1–4 — they resolve the most common cases.
